The Programme analyses the relationship between a group of highly productive advisers’ perceptions of insurers ‘business quality’, and the advisers’ consequent behaviors - specifically, around decisions on the placement of business. In doing this, the Programme provides powerful insights into a spectrum of the key factors that drive high quality outcomes and sustainable business performance for insurers. The spectrum includes client franchise, relationship management, product effectiveness, technology and operational factors.

NMG’s approach aggregates and analyses the collective ‘knowledge and experience’ of those interviewed, operating on the implicit assumption that asking the right questions of the right people, via indepth face-to-face interviews, will produce an accurate picture of competitive positioning within the IFA channel. As part of the analysis the interview data is subjected to robust and well-tested methodologies and is ultimately consolidated into NMG’s ‘Business Quality Index’.

This is a broader measure than product quality alone - it is rather a composite measure of how well insurers have been able to foster relationships with advisers and leverage their overall offering to increase adviser support and share of wallet.
